Before I start talking about the Sony ES Series I first should tell yall what Im trying to do and what i want in my Home theater system.

Great sound
Update all the technology
HDMI
Ipod connectivity
Networking  /Ethernet connectivity
Room for growth
User friendly

USB

Price

I took a look at the Sony ES Series Sony normally has good stuff. Well Sony has all of this with one exception Price. If you want all the things that I mentioned in a Sony your going to have to get the STR-DA6400ES which has a MSRP of $2500.

STR-DA6400ES

STR-DA6400ES

But  If you dont care about Ethernet connectivity you can get one starting at about $500. There are some nice perks to the ES

It has 5 year limited warranty (Nice)

Sony Elevated Standard (ES) has the XrossMediaBar  a graphical user interface (GUI)developed by Sony Computer Entertainment. The interface features icons that are spread horizontally across the screen. Navigation moves the icons, instead of a cursor. These icons are used as categories to organize the options available to the user. When an icon is selected on the horizontal bar, several more appear vertically, above and below it (selectable by the up and down directions on a directional pad).

HDMI GUI overlay  The Faroudja DCDi Cinema chipset allows for the onscreen GUI to overlay on top of 1080p sources via HDMI™ connection. it could look like this

Sony GUI

Sony GUI

Pretty nice,  looks easy to use

It also has  sony decoding Direct-Stream Digital (DSD)

Direct-Stream Digital (DSD) is the trademark name used by Sony and Philips for their system of recreating audible signals which uses pulse-density modulation encoding, a technology to store audio signals on digital storage media which is used for the Super Audio CD (SACD).

Which is pretty much the same as PCM

Pulse-code modulation (PCM) is a digital representation of an analog signal where the magnitude of the signal is sampled regularly at uniform intervals, then quantized to a series of symbols in a numeric (usually binary) code.(Wikipedia)

Unless you really like the Sony version there’s not much difference . I like all theses features but i really would like the Networking  /Ethernet connectivity this seem to be nice. Ill see what other systems have to offer.

Hay  All… I started my research on which Home Theater A/V Receiver I will get.  Lets just say that there is lots of opinions about Home theater and receivers I think that it boils down to how much you want to spend and what you want to do with it.  if you want to impress you friends with with all the stuff you have , you can go out there and spend lots of money and get great equipment that will most likely not be used to its potential. Sure if that is what you want to do, have at it. Im sure you’ll have an awesome system.

I dont have unlimited founds like some people, but i am willing to put  some money and time into it. Im thinking I ll  spend between $700.00 to  $1000.00 Not cheap but not in the high end price either. Ok before i start you might be wondering what speakers I  currently have.

Klipsch Synergy Series F-2

Klipsch Synergy Series F-2

I have The  Klipsch Synergy Series F-2 home theater system

I love this system it is versatile and they sound great for Home theater or just listing to music. There might be better system out there, but this system is worth the  price  and if were to get new speakers i would get  the another Klipsch system. But i dont think i will right now , these are great right now.

In my next post I will look into the.   Sony  ES  Series

Ok… I know i have not bloged since March. So just to recap I still have my BB Curve and I still love it. I do a lot more with it now like twitter and facebooking and stuff like that. It also seems to be quit rugged I have dropped it several time and it still work great. Im excited to get my new one when my 2 year contract is up.

I have not bloged in while due to lots of life happenings. If you are interested in what has been going on you can read about it at   http://tarraguna.com/blog/

Ok now to my latest project. So Im a big fan boy of  Home Theater (HT), I love the sound, the way it looks, all the gear you need to get it going and yes even putting it all together. Now, the last time I purchased a receiver was back in 2004,  I did lots of research before i settled on a Onkyo TX-NR801 Back then this was one of the nicer receivers you could get for not so much money – around $800-$1000 – back then. It was one that would allow some growth into the new  cool technology HD TV. Well Now in 2009 it is having a hard time kipping up to all the stuff I have, such as Blue ray, Xbox 360, Ipod and so on.  I think it might be time to get a new one.  I used to work for Best Buy and it was easy to keep up with new technology back then. But since my departure form there, I did not keep up with all that stuff.  Now i find that there is a lot I dont know in about Home Theater.  I decided to educate myself on what new stuff is out there, so I go to Best Buy to pick the Brain of one of the “product specialist” (PS) I though this would be a good way to get the gist of all the new stuff out there and to play with stuff.

Now, I dont expect the PS to know the technical stuff about the products, do expect them to know the differences form product to product. I know that not |all PS are made the same. But come on you should know the basics. I went in there to learn something about new receiver technology for some that should  know about it, but this PS did not know S..t.  The best he did was tell me that more watts are means better sound. The worst part of the visit was how the PS answered my questions. Every time I asked a question he would look for the answer on the on the price tag. what the heck!! I really hate that. To think that i waited around for 15 min for this guy thinking that i would get some really info. Heck!! I can read the a freaking label. What he did manage to tell me was how i can protect my purchase with their extended warranty. After that pitch I said thanks for your help and i left.  Thinking i would get better results else where i went to BrandsMart, and guess what? It was the same result. This is considered  Customer service (CS) What the heck! Soon stores are just going to have a couple of employees at the doors to stop people from stealing  and two cashiers – thats all the cashiers they are able to have up at one time – and the rest of the store will be self serve and this will be considered CS.

Now that I have vented back to my project. It seems that I will have to do lot of research about HT receivers before i can come to a decision of which Receiver to get. As of now I think that i will concentrate on three brands  ….  Sony,   Onkyo, and   Denon

I will be posting my progresses, so stay tuned to this channel to see what i come up with.

If anyone has any suggestion i will greatly appreciate them.  Thanks All

I have come to a conclusion on the BB curve. I would totally recommend it to any one that is in school or just needs to keep up with e-mails. It easy to set up and not to hard to navigate (with a little practice, just like anything) If you have been thinking of getting one and are not sure if it is worth it let me help with you discussion, get one. It is totally wroth it and then you’ll wonder how you got along with out it. The price is not to bad and if you are lucky you can get some rebates. Get one and try it out.

Well I have had my BB now for about two weeks. I think that my overall impression of the BB is that I like it. It was not hard to figure out how to do all the basics, like setting up e-mail, taking pics, texting and of course using the phone. The biggest frustration I had was trying to sync my BBs to Mac. The sync program that is in the system preferences of the Mac can see the BB but it cant do any thin with it. So i looked around the web to see if there was anything that was made especially for the BB I did find a few the ones that i found that looked interesting were PocketMac SyncManager (Free) and a few others that you pay for, since Im cheap I went with the free one. PocketMac SyncManager seemed to the solution. It worked ok the first time and. Ok meaning, that some files transfered and some did not, then it stopped working at all. I did everything that i could to get it to work, patches and driver updates, but still did not work at the end of the day. Im not the most savvy person when it comes to this computer language stuff. So i gave up with the PocketMac SyncManager and decided to get a Gmail account because i heard that gmail can sync to mac ical and address book some how as well as syncing you gmail contacts. But I still have no luck with that either. I hope i can find the fix to this.  (With out paying for it) I dont think i would have this problem if you had a PC. but i dont have a PC so If you have a Mac fair warning,  if any one has a real solution, let me know. Pics, well it not the best not they do well for having it right there in your pocket. You cant edit or add effects or any thing like that. It dose have a flash and It works quit well at 5 to 10 feet but that about as good as it gets. The  music payer is ok nothing to speak of. you can play music and thats pretty much it cant adjust tone or anything like that. It was nice that it came with the wired head phones.   I do like the BB because  i can answer my e-mails and check and update statuses anywhere i am. And because this is a popular media there are lots of Apps and neat thing you can get to customize your BB. I would recommend the BB to any one that has a need to have e-mail in the palm of your hand, but you do need to have some patients and be willing to take time to learn how to use it dose take a bit of effort to understand most of the functions.

Well i have had my Blackberry (BB) now for few day and i must say it was a bit frustrating. I am new to, this whole smart phone thing. I was trying to avoid getting one but my wife went out and got me this blackberry. She told me to give it a try and that If i dont like it we can take it back. I think,  but Im not sure if  T-mobile allows you to try out phone and the service for two weeks (14 days) and  if you dont like it you can take it back.  Well I now have had BB for a few day it has been a bit frustrating at first but, I am starting to get the hang of it. I set up all my e-mail addresses, instant messengers, twitter, and facebook accounts. I used to check my account about once a week from My Mac Book Pro. It has always been fun to keep in touch with friend and family over the internet. But now with my BB it is even more fun and easier to do so. I get instant update about my account and I can check them right away this avoids the build up of messages i will need to reply to in one sitting. I never understood SMS messages because it took so long to do. but with a full key board it is faster and i dont have to feel i have to carry on a conversation when i only have a small message. I am starting to like having a BB. My wife Has a G1 and it dose all kind of funky stuff, she tells me that The BB can do a lot more then just The Email stuff. And that there is a reason that some people call it a crackberry. I think I will keep it. I am about to graduate from nursing school so if there any suggestion of any neat stuff to do with BB related Nursing Im all ears.
